How to Easily Change Your Own Laptop Hard Drive

There are 3 main reasons that make us want to replace the hard disk that we have: first as an error (can not be used anymore), both because they want to increase the capacity becomes larger, and the third because we want to speed up the computer.

Aside from the hard drive error, we need to look more carefully at another reason we want to upgrade the hard drive. Although the hard disk capacity has grown so rapidly in recent years, but it helps us also looked at other storage media such as external storage or USB drive has a large capacity.

New hard drive much faster, of course, and speed was due to the change from IDE to SATA interface. And also the speed of the hard disk can only be due to a faster disk rotation so it is likely we will get the speed in reading and writing data on the hard disk.

Before we replace the hard disk, there are several things that need to be done. Because laptops generally only have one hard disk then we will require an external hard disk to backup all existing data.

There are 3 software that we need before replacing the hard drive in the laptop and everything is free software.
1. Synback: software to backup the entire hard disk or specific folders.
2. MozBackup: software to backup and restore data Firefox and Thunderbird.
3. Belarc Advisor: software that will provide laptop hardware information.

Steps to replace the hard disk in a laptop
First step.
Turn the laptop over and open the cover and the screws that hold the laptop hard disk. Position the hard disk in a laptop may not be visible but the magnitude is approximately 3 inches.

Once the lid has been opened, watch carefully and then see where the screws are still holding the hard disk.

The second step
Once the screws are removed, then note the 'pin' located on the hard disk. Remove it carefully and then lift the hard disk of a 'grip'.

The third step
Remove the old hard disk and insert a new hard disk into its shell.

Return the shell to the hard disk to its original place, as in the first and second steps.
